Feminist Playing Cards

What Dave said…

iymi:

This is great! I’m going to donate right now so I can get a pack. You can see Marissa’s artwork in the background of the Matt Pryor footage. Liz and Ramsey are all over IYMI and I’m excited to see what Cristy, Jacki and Lauren do too. Donate!

fuckyoulizprince:

Please visit the kickstarter page for the feminist playing card project I’m involved in;  14 artists were asked to draw 4 feminist musicians of their choosing to illustrate a deck of playing cards.  The musicians I chose are:

Lauren Denitzio (the Measure(sa), Worriers)

Miranda Taylor (Hunchback, Full of Fancy, Black Wine)

Nicole Georges (Sour Grapes, Invincible Summer zine)

Kathleen Hanna (Bikini Kill, Le Tigre, the Julie Ruin)

Check out the video, get excited, and throw some $$$ at this project!  Thanks!!!!!

nicholasboyd asked: How did "Can't Complain" end up being played on The Office?

To put it shortly: nepotism.

To put it quickly: nepotism.

BOMB THE MUSIC INDUSTRY! / CLASSICS OF LOVE / MIKE PARK MINI-TOUR!!!!

HEY EVERYBODY! We are super excited to tell you that in March we’ll be playing the first three east coast shows Classics of Love have ever done! Then they’re going home. Who’s Classics of Love? It’s Jesse from Operation Ivy (!) making insanely good punk rock with Mike, Morgan and Max from Hard Girls/Shinobu/Pteradon (!!!). Here’s one of their songs:

Also on these shows is Mike Park who I don’t believe has been on the east coast playing music for almost a decade. You’re gonna fuck up BIG by not going to these shows. Here are the dates.

3/16 - Philadelphia @ First Unitarian Church TICKETS

3/17 - Brookyln @ Death By Audio TICKETS

3/18 - Washington DC @ Black Cat TICKETS

I’m adding ticket links because these shows should sell out. We are doing our own ticketing for the Brooklyn show, so play nice. See ya in the pit? That appropriate?

Bomb the Music Industry!: YOU'RE BEING WARNED...

Have we played any non-all ages shows? I did forget to mention that if you’re under 16 at THIS particular show, you can have a “guardian” come there with ya. But other than that, I’m pretty sure that every show we’ve played since 2007 (in the states) has been all ages.

Fun fact: Did you know that we have been charged up to $500 extra in some venues simply for saying “make this show all ages.” What the fuck, right?!

shit-that-you-hate:

I would pay alot more than $10 to see them but what kills me is the non all ages shows

YOU’RE BEING WARNED…

Although no one has called us out on this, we have been playing a handful of shows that a bit more expensive than $10, the most recent of which is a show with Das Racist on Long Island. We don’t plan on making a habit out of this, and we will ALWAYS fight tooth and nail to make our headlining shows $10 or less (I think in one case in Toronto last year, it had to be $13 or it couldn’t be all ages.)

In all honesty, we’re just making sure we’re still doing things that are interesting to us. Headlining shows all the time can get olllllllld and I think all the higher priced things we’ve been playing are all pretty unique circumstances, and things we’re excited to be a part of. We also always try to set up something cheap (or free) in those areas around the same time as the pricier jump-offs.

So fear not. We’re only continuing our trend of selling out in small increments. Can’t be perfect.
